Rebecca Danz

Winner of the 2019 Pearl Necklace, Germany’s most important competition for lady jockeys, Danz has an international riding career spanning from Germany, Switzerland, Turkey, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and now Sweden. She is currently stable jockey to trainer Jens Hirschberger.

The 29-year-old from Oberhausen began her racing career in September 2006 as an apprentice. Two years of hard work paid off when she rode in her first race and then shortly after celebrated her first win on Almano at Saabrucken, completing her apprenticeship with Torsten Mundry in 2009.

Danz’s list of success sees a lot of firsts. In 2011 she became the first and only female jockey to win four races at Baden Baden, all four victories for trainer Nadine Verheyen. June 2013 saw her become the first female jockey to win a race in Turkey and in October the same year she became the first female jockey to win a race in Qatar.

Her 50th victory came two years after her Qatar success on Quatro at Dresden and since then honours and celebrations have continued to propel Danz into the limelight. In 2016 she was awarded the Turf Champion South West. In the snow and ice of St. Moritz in February of last year, victory in the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship on board Dynamites led her to qualify for the hot sands in Abu Dhabi and a place in the November final where she was crowned 2018 champion in the series.
