Jane Elliott from England has always had a passion for horses and set her heart on becoming a jockey from a young age. Having graduated through a racing college in Britain she gained her first job in the sport working for multiple Classic-winning trainer Ralph Beckett, where she was closely associated with Epsom Oaks runner-up Secret Gesture.
From there, she spent two seasons with Michael Appleby where her career as a jockey started to progress and she furthered her prospects by making the move to Newmarket to team up with George Margarson. This switch proved the catalyst to better things as across the next two years she amassed 56 winners for an array of different trainers, including Mark Johnston – the winning-most trainer in the history of British racing – and Group 1-winning handler David Barron.
Having teamed up with Tom Dascombe at the start of this season, Elliott has already ridden a further 14 winners, meaning she sits second in the apprentice title in Britain and is well on course for her best-ever tally. With a total of 78 winners to her name and over £600,000 in prize-money earnings accumulated, Jane Elliott is one of the brightest young prospects in British racing.
