Born into the racing world, Massin’s career in the saddle comes as no surprise. Her mother was a jockey and her stepfather rode for top French trainer Yann Barberot.
Having already proven her riding ability with 23 winners as an amateur she continued her success with three wins shortly after turning professional in 2015. During the same year she ventured to America, riding trackwork at Santa Anita for Leo Powell. A career as an American jockey proved tough (only 8% of the 1,500 licensed jockeys are female in the States), so she returned to France in August 2016 where she followed up with seven wins.
Massin is now riding with more confidence and her achievements continue to grow. In 2017 she rode 17 winners and last year saw 36 wins.
Massin currently rides for Stephane Wattel. Her dream is to ride in a Group 1 race and she is looking forward to riding in the Women Jockeys’ World Cup.
